Welcome to The Lyst. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
2. Information We Collect
- Account Data: You can sign in through Firebase Authentication using phone/SMS verification, Google or Apple. All accounts must verify a phone number before onboarding. Google and Apple sign-in provide an account identifier and, when available, a display name and email address; Apple may provide a private relay address. Connecting a provider in Profile links it to your existing Lyst account. Your profile may also contain a display name, email address, ZIP code, unique handle and selected or uploaded avatar.
- Contacts: With your permission, the app reads device contacts to display familiar names for recommendation sources. You may decline or revoke contact access in device settings.
- Location Data: With your permission, we collect precise or coarse geolocation data to provide recommendations for nearby restaurants, bars, and attractions via the Google Places API.
- Usage Data: We collect information on how you interact with the app, including lists created and items "lysted," to improve our recommendation engine.
- Device Identifiers: We collect standard device IDs and IP addresses for security, ad-serving, and analytics purposes.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Facilitate Consor shared lists and recommendations between users.
- Provide personalized recommendations for movies, games, and local venues.
- Serve relevant native advertisements via Google AdMob.
- Generate affiliate commissions through the Apple Services Performance Partner program when you purchase items via our links.
4. Third-Party Services & Data Sharing
- Google Firebase: Handles our backend database and authentication.
- Google and Apple Sign-In: Verify your identity when you choose either provider or connect it to your existing account.
- Shared Lists: Only invited recipients and Consor participants can see the lists shared with them, including items, notes and ratings. Unshared personal lists and personal history remain private.
- Google AdMob: Serves native ads. They may use device identifiers to personalize ads.
- Google Places: Powers our location-based discovery.
- Content APIs: We pull metadata from TMDB, IGDB, and Listen Notes. While we do not share your personal identity with them, your searches may be processed by their servers.
- Affiliate Links: If you click an iTunes or Apple Books link, Apple may track the referral to process commissions.
- Affiliate Tracking: We work with third-party platforms, such as Partnerize and Apple, to track affiliate-link performance. No personally identifiable information is shared with these partners during this process.
5. Your Choices & Opt-Outs
- Location: You can disable location permissions at any time in your device settings.
- Ads: You can reset your Advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads via your iOS or Android system settings.
- Data and Account Requests: Reset Account Data resets saved app data. Delete Account removes your sign-in account, profile, private lists and sharing invitations. A Consor list remains for the other partner, with your contributions labeled "Former Partner." You can also contact us through our contact page for account requests.
6. Children's Privacy
The Lyst is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
